The Legends of the Jews Volume 1  by Louis Ginzberg.Ginzburg was a great Jewish scholar and this is the masterpiece of his scholarship The Legends of the Jews.  Ginzberg assembled all the versions of the stories of the Old Testament from 30 different languages.  Translated and published them in 6 volumes.  Unfortunately the footnotes and references are not included in this etext version.  Though I don't know how they could be in ascii.  But you can get a good idea of the richness of the material just by reading the text.
